Lermontov Exhibition | Amber Jewellery from The Village Goldsmith
On the 16th of February 1986 the Russian cruise liner the Mikhail Lermontov ran aground on rocks near Port Gore in the Marlborough Sounds. Twenty years later amber jewellery salvaged from the ship has been reborn, reinvigorated into new striking art forms that preserve the character of the past but create new works with obvious links to New Zealand.
