Each year Wellington comes alive with the burst of creativity and energy that is the World of Wearable Arts Awards Show. The Village Goldsmith celebrates WOW with a creative window display.
This year’s theme is ‘sparkle red with love’. The idea is to embrace all things red and celebrate the love story between Wellington and WOW. At The Village Goldsmith, we’re all about love stories! We also think there’s no better place for the perfect love story than this beautiful city we call home.

Proposals Around the World
Our WOW window display tells the story of a young couple in love, travelling the world together. While she blissfully enjoys each exotic and interesting place that they visit, he is looking for the perfect destination in which to drop down on one knee and pop the question!
A trip around the world would surely offer endless beautiful cities in which to propose… but each time the ring is about to take the limelight, something goes wrong or doesn’t feel right. Until of course, they reach the Best Little Capital in the World...
A sunny day on the harbour, she’s marvelling at the Opera House… perfect chance! He opens the little box and… ahh! A bird swoops at the shiny diamond ring and snatches it away. Bye bye birdie.
On high alert for any sort of thief, he holds her hand tight in busy Times Square. Wow! What a sight. But where is her hand now?! She’s lost in the crowd, and he’s lost another proposal opportunity.
A quiet spot, that will do the trick. He packs a picnic for two in one of London’s beautiful parks. But what is the forecast? Rain. Rain, rain and more rain! He won’t be proposing in this damp mood.
You can’t help but be happy while in the City of Love. Time to sweep her off her feet. But who is this Frenchman handing her a rose?! Non, non, non. His romantic plans have been sabotaged!
These guys are too busy admiring themselves to try and woo anyone else. The couple take a gondola ride, he’s a bit nervous and… oh! The ring slips from his hand and into the Grand Canal. This ship is sinking...
A ride on The Cable Car (no perilous waters below!) to the Gardens filled with crimson flowers of the Pohutukawa. He drops down on one knee. She blushes… “Yes!”
